Green & Blue Two-Tone Shaker Kitchen in Great Staughton

This may be one room, but it was one of the most complex projects we’ve worked on for several reasons. We knew much of what we were getting into from the outset, and while the finished visual effect is exactly what we wanted, the journey to create it certainly came with a few head-scratching moments. 

The two-colour Finca shaker kitchen has been brought to life with a warm oak bench and shelving, alongside some of the customers’ own personal choices. Classy details, including a Belfast sink and traditional tap, oil-rubbed bronze handles, tongue-and-groove panelling and feature tiling, all contribute to the kitchen’s distinctive look. 

A feature wall combining brick slips and panelling adds another layer of character to the room - and provides the perfect place for the homeowners to show off their gin collection. NEFF cooking appliances bring modern functionality to the traditional-inspired scheme, while quartz worktops provide a practical and elegant finishing touch. 

There was a considerable amount of work required before the new kitchen could even be installed. Rising damp meant we couldn’t use fixings in certain areas, while walls that were out of level and square, damp coming through the floor, exposed pipework and leaks from the upstairs bathrooms all needed to be addressed. In fact, the preparation took longer than the installation itself. 

After all the challenges behind the scenes, the finished room makes the work worthwhile. Traditional details, natural textures and personal touches come together beautifully to create a kitchen with plenty of warmth, individuality and character.
