Light Neutral German-Style Kitchen in Huntingdon

The brief was clear: the customers wanted everything clean and uncluttered, with a place for everything.

Although they had a good-sized room, the existing layout wasn’t making the best use of it, leaving them without enough preparation space or fridge capacity. They wanted raised ovens, light worktops that weren’t too busy, space to retain their dining table and, most importantly, a design that would finally make an impact. 

A light, neutral palette creates the clean German-style look the customers wanted while still giving the kitchen plenty of presence. The new layout makes much better use of the room, creating defined areas for cooking, preparation, storage and dining without compromising the open feel of the space. 

Storage was a key part of the design, with an internal-drawer larder, Le Mans corner pull-outs, generous pan drawers and wall storage with integrated lighting. The larder has even been divided internally to give taller items their own dedicated space.

NEFF appliances include a full-height fridge and separate undercounter freezer, raised oven, combination oven and warming drawer, hob and hood, dishwasher and washing machine, giving the customers everything they need without resorting to a large American-style fridge freezer. 

The previously awkward area of the room has become one of its best features, with a generous breakfast bar providing plenty of space for food preparation, serving, casual dining, and socialising, while connecting the kitchen to the outdoors.

The utility was also redesigned with sensibly positioned units, making the space easier to access and providing proper storage for those everyday items that previously had nowhere to go. 

The finished room now makes full use of the available space while still feeling light, calm and uncluttered. For us, the breakfast bar really makes it - bringing together preparation, seating and everyday living in a space that feels naturally connected both inside and out.
